An Observation - Fully Devoted Followers of Christ

If you a pastor or teacher and you see consumerism, materialism, and self-centeredness as a problem within our culture then please stop teaching like the goal of Christianity is being a Christian and doing good the Christian things. Also, If you really aren't a fan of consumerism, please stop running your church like you are trying to make fully devoted followers of Christ. (i.e. a bunch of individuals seeking to attain a better personal relationship with God that has very little to do with the world they live in.)

I'm serious.

I'm guessing that this kind of individualistic personalized self improvement teaching is so ingrained in us, that we don't know what else we'd preach.

So, before you write a response, listen to a sermon or two at your church and think about what they say. What do you hear?
