Hard to Do:

I love Ashley Simpson. I have to say that out loud. I love Ashley Simpson.

Let me give you some background.
Every time I see Ashley Simpson I engage a variety of emotion.

Humor - She can't seem to sing, but she is becoming a superstar and now even has her own TV show on MTV.

Anger - With the TV exec's, and record label who would put her out there for financial gains as she is slowly becoming the generations Anna Nicole Smith.

Grief - As I watch her soak up attention and spotlights shining on her self absorbed late adolescence. How much does she want to be famous. How much of her life will be seeking the attention her older sister has acquired.

Sadness - That she is not going to make it as a celebrity and that her friends did not stop her from going into show business.

Love - I must respond with love. She may be a celebrity, she is caught up in the record making, MTV machine, representing a lot that is wrong with the world... but she is a young person... looking for acceptance...

so.. I love Ashley Simpson.... do you?

It's easier for me to love Ashlee than to love her Dad. I posted some related thoughts a few weeks ago:

> I think it's time to go public with my belief that Joe Simpson will reap eternal consequences for what he's done to his daughters, maybe especially the younger one. If you still think the SNL snafu was ugly, then you missed last night's Orange Bowl meltdown. She got her @$$ booed off the stage, BCS style. It was an odd combination of sad, ugly, and altogether justified. Joe, please. Your daughter was made to do something meaningful, and you've hoodwinked her into thinking it's this. It's not. Please, rescue her. Be her Dad. Protect her and restore her. Repent and God will forgive you. I just hope your daughters, once they discover the lies they've been encouraged to believe and live, will be as merciful. <

We have a group of beautiful young girls who come to our studio. We snidely call them the "Hollywood Hotties." It makes my heart break to see how their Mom's are trying to push them into that Hollywood/music scene, exploiting the fact that they are beautiful. To me it is nothing more than pimping them out.

Poor Ashley Simpson. But really, at this point, what can she do? I'm impressed that she's kept trekking along this far. She can't leave Hollywood right now-not with this reputation. She has to have a good streak with no "boo's" and THEN she can get out of Hollywood.
